When we first embarked on the journey to build our dream cabin in the remote wilderness of Montana, my wife and I quickly realized we were in way over our heads.  Our closest historical experience to this endeavor had been to select from various interior design options in a new custom home under construction. The difference in the scale of decision making necessary with our new cabin was staggering. Every decision, including the size and floor plan, the building materials, heating and cooling options and, finally, interior surfaces, lay in front of us. It felt like a daunting task. It rapidly became clear that we would need to find the right builder for the job and for us.  

After meeting with my initial choice of builders, it became apparent that they lacked the same enthusiasm for the project that my wife and I had. It was difficult to get return phone calls, and setting up meetings was challenging. When I finally decided they were not the best fit for us, I reached out to a local excavation contractor that I know and trust for a recommendation. From our first phone call, it was apparent that Jeremiah has a different work ethic than I experienced with the previous builder. When I met him for the first time on the property, I was completely at ease that he was the right guy for the job. While the process of designing and building the cabin was work, it was a labor of love and Jeremiah made it a real pleasure.  He is both highly experienced and honest to a fault. He and his team have finished wood working skills that made our little cabin feel more like the Taj Mahal.  

I cannot recommend Refined Matters and Jeremiah Covert highly enough. He took the stress out of an inherently very difficult experience. If you are considering building in western Montana, you will not be disappointed if you chose Jeremiah Covert and Refined Matters. They are truly up to the task.
